Cortina is bursting at the seams! To continue meeting the demand in the market, the bicycle manufacturer from Zwolle has commissioned a new warehouse in Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. Yesterday saw the official opening of the new warehouse, situated immediately next to the factory that produces the Cortina bikes. The warehouse has room for approximately 65,000 bikes.
Chris and Wilco Kruitbosch, co-owners of Cortina attended the official opening. The warehouse was built to meet the seasonal demand for Cortina bikes. In 2014, Cortina sold more bikes than ever and posted a growth of 25% compared to the year before. Production is now increased during the low season in order to ensure optimum deliveries to specialist bicycle shops during the high season.
Co-owner Chris Kruitbosch said “Fortunately we were able to continue deliveries to our clients during the past few months. The opening of the warehouse is an excellent way to ensure deliveries during 2015, and we are pleased to mark this event. This warehouse gives us more storage options that enable us to deal with the seasonal demand. We had anticipated a start with a properly filled warehouse, but the enormous demand for Cortina bikes during the past few months means we start with a virtually empty warehouse. Rather wonderful of course!”.
Recent GFK figures demonstrate that Cortina's market share in the city bike category has risen to 19%. The same figures also show that Cortina is market leader in the €300-€700 price category.
